"Not only was Re:Solved, as a debate and speech competition, phenomenal—the experiences and the people I got to meet on the journey were amazing as well. The finals were engaging and thrilling, with both sides offering deep, well-written arguments only within a six-minute timeframe. Everyone, from our opponents to the hosts of the events, were all incredibly kind and supportive. We got to see many scenic views and make many friends. I’m incredibly proud to have been a finalist in this competition, and I trust that this event will be able to rise to new heights in the future."

Ruisi He, Shanghai American School and winner of Re:Solved 2023

"I signed up for Re:Solved expecting to only use it as a practice opportunity, but it turned out to be so much more. I got to debate with a partner across the world, against a variety of talented people, and its unique combination of public speaking and debate helped me to greatly improve at both. The in-person final was an especially amazing experience—whether it be the thrill of high-stakes competition, meeting many new people, or simply the relaxation of visiting fun places and eating good food. I'd recommend Re:Solved to all debaters and public speakers, and it's also a great introduction to debate if you're looking for somewhere to start."

Julian Zhang, University of Toronto School and winner of Re:Solved 2023.

"From the day I pressed "submit" on the db8 platform, I never expected to make it all the way to finals. It was an absolute joy to have the opportunity to compete against different competitors from around the world. Arriving in Toronto for the first time, the Re:Solved team was incredibly welcoming and generous. This experience was phenomenal, and I would love to compete again in the future!"

Emily Su, Crofton House School and Re:Solved 2023 finalist

"Re:Solved was such an amazing experience that truly created a sense of community through competition. The transition between the public speaking aspect and the debates was quite smooth and the planning by the organizers was phenomenal. Coming to Toronto for the final was a memorable event. It allowed us to not only debate at a great venue but also visit sites and meet new people. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities created by Re:Solved."

Raine Gurton, Little Flower Academy and Re:Solved 2023 finalist
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
