Privacy Policy

Branksome Hall is committed to protecting the privacy of all our constituents. Maintaining the trust of our constituents is important to Branksome, and we recognize that, to maintain this trust, we must be responsible, transparent and accountable in how we treat the personal information that is shared with us. Branksome Hall gathers and stores personal information — such as your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address — as provided by you, to communicate with you. Our privacy practices are designed to protect this information.

Personal information — gathered by Branksome Hall through applications, registration and updates provided by constituents — on students, parents of students and alumnae, alumnae, staff and faculty, former staff and faculty employees, and friends, is used to do the following:

  • send our constituents publications, collateral materials, updates and information
  • solicit financial support for the school
  • inform our constituents of events, activities and volunteer opportunities in which they can participate
  • publish our annual student directory (distributed only to current families in the school)
  • communicate with constituents on an individual basis.

The school maintains personal information records on all constituents, including names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other personal information that is publicly available and provided through interactions with you or other Branksome Hall constituents. It is your right to view your personal information on file at the school. We require notice to ensure that the appropriate individual is available to review your file with you, and is available to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.

Branksome Hall maintains confidential and secure databases and files on campus, to which only authorized staff have access. Volunteers and staff members may be provided with personal information on specific individuals to assist them with their responsibilities. Staff members and volunteers will be trained in dealing with personal information, in accordance with our privacy policy, and are required to adhere to this policy. Any third parties who conduct business on behalf of Branksome Hall, such as mailing houses, are also required to adhere to the school's privacy policy. Branksome Hall does not rent, sell, trade or provide personal information to individuals or organizations outside of the school.

Branksome Hall does not track the e-mail addresses of visitors to our site; however, we do record the country of origin for each visitor and the web pages they viewed for statistical and research purposes only. At no time is the identity of the user known or recorded.

Services from select companies are outsourced to manage certain online activities for the school, e.g., online giving, the alumnae e-mail directory, online special event registration, and ordering of textbooks online. These companies offer secure sites.

Please direct any questions or concerns relating to Branksome Hall’s privacy policy, or the treatment of personal information, to communications@branksome.on.ca.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
