2023–24 Branksome Senior & Middle School Arts Season Announcement

After a successful return to in person performances during the 2022–23 school year, the Branksome Hall Senior & Middle School Integrated Arts Team is pleased to announce its latest season of student arts performances.
Comprised of offerings across disciplines including Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts, Film and Music, there is something for everyone in the community to experience this year. Student participation information and opportunities may also be accessed via the team’s new Portal Resource Board.

Angela David, Instructional Leader, Arts, commented, “Last year we rediscovered the power of the arts within our community. As a department, we have developed the 2023–24 season based on our guiding mission statement: ‘we ignite artistic wonder and empower our community to connect while creatively exploring the shared human experience.’ We truly hope you find something that will pique your interest in this year’s offerings.”

The first performances in the season will be the Senior School’s production of She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen. In this heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all, Agnes Evans leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. Full details of the production and ticket sales will be available mid-November.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
