Meet our new 'ACERS"

Even in a pandemic, the newest members on our Advancement and Community Engagement (ACE) team are here for you.
Katie Gillespie, Associate Director, Marketing & Advancement Communications
Hero: Everyday but particularly now, teachers and childcare professionals
Karaoke Song: I’ll sing every word to every [Tragically] Hip song ever written, at any time, and it would be impossible to stop me from belting out Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer.’ This tone-deaf girl needs back-up though; no solos.
Secret Talent: My memory. I can still recite lines from my Grade 4 play, full lyrics to songs learned in elementary French class and I never forget a name or a face. Try me.
Home-office afternoon ‘pick-me-up’: Twizzlers Nibs
Background: I come to Branksome from eight years spent understanding the minds, habits and preferences of kids at WildBrain Television, where I drove marketing strategy and programs for Family Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD. I honed my skills in brand building and communication at john st. Advertising, and combined marketing and fundraising at Rethink Breast Cancer.
How I’m here for you: I’ll be providing strategic and tactical expertise in the development of all BH alum communications and marketing materials.

Margaret Barry, Manager, Stewardship
Hero: Terry Fox (My friends and I have participated in the run for over 13 years, through all kinds of weather and even virtually.)
Favorite Karaoke Song: ‘Tequila’ (both as a song and liquid courage)
Secret Talent: I'm pretty good at remembering people's faces.
Home-office afternoon ‘pick-me-up’: Though our cat, Circe, doesn't sit on the desk she's close enough I can hear her snoring through my Zoom meetings.
Background: Growing up in a house where writing thank you cards was mandatory for all gifts, it's no wonder I chose a career in stewardship and donor recognition. I've been fortunate to spend most of my career working for some of the top hospitals in Toronto, including The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and, most recently, Sinai Health Foundation.
How I’m here for you: As the Manager of Stewardship, I have an amazing opportunity. I get to learn how Branksome donors are making a difference, and I also get to connect with you and show you what an incredible impact you've had on our students and staff.

Rachel Loo, Alum Relations Officer
Hero: Edward Burtynsky
Karaoke Song: ‘If I Had $1,000,000’ by the Barenaked Ladies
Secret Talent: playing the viola
Home-office afternoon ‘pick-me-up’: A cool can of Bubly!
Background: I previously worked with the Esprit Orchestra, Canada's only orchestra dedicated to commissioning and performing contemporary music. There, I produced an annual subscription concert series at Koerner Hall and managed the organization's operations.
How I’m here for you: I work closely with the Alumnae Association Executive and the Alum Relations team to develop events and programming, finding opportunities to strengthen alum relationships. Please say hello at rloo@branksome.on.ca. I am happy to chat anytime and eager to hear your stories!

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
