Dr. Yasmin Razack Appointed Head, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Branksome Hall is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Yasmin Razack as the school’s new Head, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), following a comprehensive search process.
Dr. Razack will commence her role on August 5, 2025, joining Branksome’s Senior Leadership Team, and will play a pivotal role in leading the school’s strategic vision and planning initiatives to continue building an inclusive environment, aligning with Branksome Hall’s mission and values.

Yasmin brings a wealth of experience and deep expertise in the area of equity, inclusion and belonging. With more than 20 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles, including most recently as Dean of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) at Humber College, Yasmin has focused on building belonging and community inclusiveness across distinct educational institutions. At Humber, she provided visionary leadership and championed initiatives that embedded these principles across the institution, as well as launched a new Office of EDIB, developed a comprehensive action plan, and partnered with student, faculty and administrative leaders to promote belonging and engagement across difference in teaching, learning and organizational culture.

Prior to Humber, she served as the Chief Diversity Officer at Canadian Blood Services, where she led the development of the organization’s first DEI strategy and action plan. Before that she spent 13 years as Director of Global Citizenship Education & Inclusion at Centennial College, where she led high-impact institutional initiatives through the development and implementation of strategic plans, DEI curriculum and co-curricular programs, and led the system-wide implementation of transformative learning for all faculty and staff, fostering a culture of continuous growth.

At Branksome Hall, Dr. Razack will collaborate with school leaders, faculty and staff to integrate these principles into curriculum design and delivery. A key focus will be on preparing Branksome’s students to engage thoughtfully in global issues by building their capacity for courageous conversations, encouraging rigorous analysis and fostering generous attention to multiple perspectives that promote respect and mutual understanding. As well, Dr. Razack will provide expertise in developing frameworks for Admissions, Human Resources, Communications and Marketing to intentionally cultivate a culture of inclusion, belonging and equity.

Yasmin holds a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Western Ontario, a Master’s of Education from York University and certification as a professional coach. Through her educational and professional experience, she has gained a comprehensive understanding of how to engage diverse communities and shape organizational strategies that address systemic biases and inequities. Her proven mentorship and advocacy experience will support Branksome’s students and employees in navigating complex issues.

“Dr. Razack’s strategic vision, collaborative approach and commitment to fostering inclusive environments will be a tremendous asset to Branksome Hall,” notes Grace McCallum, Branksome’s Principal. “We look forward to welcoming her to our community and working together to build a more equitable and inclusive future for all. Please join me in extending a very warm Branksome welcome to Yasmin!”

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
