Celebrating the Class of 2025

As we get ready to celebrate Graduation today, we want to congratulate our Class of 2025. GYs, while your time at Branksome is almost at its end, you have made such an incredible impact on our school and community. You have distinguished yourselves in the classroom, through your co-curricular activities, community engagement and in your university placements. You are well-positioned for your next exciting chapter and we could not be happier for each one of you.
To celebrate this graduating class, we have placed a special announcement in today’s Globe and Mail, and we are delighted to share a preview of it here

Our graduating students have received more than 700 offers to Canadian, U.S., UK, and other international universities. Their achievements are remarkable: nine Ivy League acceptances; 57% of offers were to competitive STEM programs and top business schools; and 42% were to prestigious arts and humanities programs.

In Canada, as of today (with more to come until the end of May!), our students have received 74 offers to Queen’s, including five to Commerce; 33 offers to McGill, including three to Management; 48 offers to U of T; 13 offers to U Waterloo and 16 offers to UBC.

They also received acceptances to a wide range of U.S. universities including Brown, Barnard College at Columbia University, Babson College, Bates College, Berklee College of Music, Boston College, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon University, Colby College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Emory University, The George Washington University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Johns Hopkins University, Middlebury College, New York University, Northwestern University, Pratt Institute, Rhode Island School of Design, Santa Clara University, Southern Methodist University, Tufts University, Tulane University, University of California-San Diego, University of California-Irvine, University of California-Los Angeles, University of Chicago, University of Hawaii, University of Miami, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Southern California, University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington, University of Virginia, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest University, Washington University in St. Louis, Wellesley College, and so many more. It is exciting to see this recognition of our students’ accomplishments across North American universities and the breadth of opportunities presented to them.

Beyond North America, students received offers from numerous UK and European universities, including University of Oxford, London School of Economics and Political Science, Durham University, Imperial College London, King’s College London, University College London, University of Edinburgh, University of St Andrews, University of Glasgow, University of Exeter, University of Manchester, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, CentraleSupélec, University of Hong Kong, University of Debrecen and University of Pécs.

Our students’ academic achievements were also recognized through significant entrance scholarships, resulting in an impressive more than $6 million in scholarships offered to the Class of 2025 this year.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to our Branksome faculty and staff, the Student Support Team, our Directors of University Counselling—Michelle Embury and Brian McDonald—and Meredith McDill, University Counsellor, for their hard work and dedication to our students’ success this year. Thank you also to Melanie van de Water, Assistant Head, Student Experience, Grades 11–12, for all that you’ve done to support our students’ academic and personal growth.

Please join us in congratulating each of our outstanding graduates and celebrating all of their individual and collective achievements throughout their time at Branksome Hall. We look forward to seeing them cross the stage at the University of Toronto’s Convocation Hall this afternoon, and to hearing of their future success as young alums for years to come.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*

*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
