Parenting in a Digital Age

Eaton Common Room
We have heard from many parents about their interest in better understanding how to navigate devices and digital materials with their children, who have access to frequent use of the internet. In response to the need for best-in-class information, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Jake Ernst of Straight Up HealthWhile all parents/caregivers are welcome, we are focusing on usage by students in Grades 4–10

About This Event
In this session, we’ll talk about the number one factor that impacts whether or not kids get hooked by their devices, what apps and websites parents should know about, how to avoid common digital parenting pitfalls and how to strike a balance between digital safety and digital freedom. Participants will leave with tips and tools for raising resilient and responsible kids in the age of the internet.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
