Mona Malone Appointed Branksome Hall's Incoming Chair, Board of Governors

Branksome Hall is pleased to announce the appointment of Mona Malone as its new Chair of the Board of Governors, effective September 2022. Ms. Malone’s appointment as Chair follows two years as Vice-Chair of the Board and four years as a board member.
“I can’t think of a more worthy or ideal individual for this role,” said current Board Chair Jean Cloutier. “Mona is highly respected, enormously talented and completely committed to supporting a culture of engagement and partnerships that are critical to Branksome’s ongoing success. It is incredibly important to have such a leader at the helm of a world-class institution, particularly at a time when Branksome continues to lead and build its vision for the future.”

The parent of a past Branksome student, Mona Malone is Chief Human Resources Officer and Head of People and Culture for BMO Financial Group. In this role, she leads and shapes the bank’s strategy with its most valuable asset—its people. Mona is part of BMO’s ten-member Executive Committee, which is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of BMO.

“As a proud Branksome parent, it is the community I love most about Branksome Hall,” said Mona. “This is a leading, globally minded school, with so many exciting opportunities for students to connect, learn and grow. I am honoured to continue to advance the mission of Branksome and inspired by its future potential.”

Mona began her career as a consultant at Ernst & Young and through her 25 years at BMO she has held leadership roles such as Chief Talent Officer, Retail Banking Sales Leader, and Chief Marketing Officer at ePost (a joint venture between Canada Post and BMO).

Mona holds an Honours Business Administration degree from Ivey Business School at Western University. She is a member of Ivey’s Advisory Board, the Chair of the Ian O. Ihnatowycz Institute for Leadership at Ivey and serves on International Business University (IBU) and The Long Run Initiative’s Board of Governors. She is an active volunteer and recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award in recognition of her community service with youth organizations. Mona lives in Toronto with her husband and three children.

“On behalf of the Branksome community, I wish to thank Jean Cloutier for his exceptional dedication to Branksome Hall and for his wise guidance and oversight of the Board these last few years,” said Principal Karen Jurjevich. “I know that as a purpose-driven leader, Mona will make her own profoundly positive contribution to our community as Chair of the Branksome Board, and we look forward to working with her in this new capacity. Having someone with Mona’s tremendous strengths in this role will no doubt ensure that Branksome Hall continues to foster even greater excellence and impact in this next chapter.”

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
