Boarding

Welcome to Boarding

As the Director of Boarding, I look forward to collaborating with you as we continue building a strong and supportive community.

I have been at Branksome Hall for 15 years, and during that time I have taught English, Film Studies and Theory of Knowledge. Over the past seven years, I have been the Instructional Leader for the English, ESL, Mandarin and International Languages Departments. I transitioned into the role of Director of Boarding in February 2022, and I love the Boarding community. It is a group of vibrant, unique, kind and inclusive individuals. Together, we create an environment that is both comfortable and dynamic.

Our entire team is committed to fostering a sense of agency and well-being in young people, and we love big ideas, having fun and making things happen!

This Handbook will share key information to help prepare our Boarding community for the year ahead. While the Handbook is an important reference, we recognize that Boarding is a collaborative community and is constantly evolving. We will be updating the Handbook throughout the year, so please check back regularly for updates. We value the suggestions, feedback and ideas of all members of our community.

Get ready to have a fantastic year!

Warm regards,

Jill Strimas
Director, Boarding / Coordinator, Faculty Growth

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
