University Counselling: Applying to US & UK Universities
Athletics and Wellness Centre
The University Counselling Office invites students in Grades 9 through 12 and their parents to learn about the opportunities presented by studying in the United Kingdom and the United States. Due to earlier application deadlines compared to Canadian universities, this will be the first in a series of presentations regarding university admissions. With more than 3,500 post-secondary institutions, the U.S. offers a wider range of options than any other system in the world. We will explore why a student may wish to consider pursuing their university studies south of the border, with topics including the application process, how students are selected, the role of standardized testing, as well as the financial implications of studying in the U.S. In addition, we will look at the UK process and how it differs from applying to the U.S. and Canada and why this may be an attractive option for students. We will cover topics such as direct-entry professional programs in medicine, law and veterinary programs as well as other exciting opportunities that exist beyond the North American continent.
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.*
*The Land Acknowledgement may evolve as we honour our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation in partnership with Indigenous communities.
