  • Measuring Student Experience from Multiple Perspectives

Summary: This research brief discusses how school climate measures can be used to assess both diversity, equity and inclusion as well as social-emotional learning in schools by using a systems perspective.
  • Designing for Deep Inclusion

Summary: This study was a collaboration between Branksome Hall, Parlay and Steelcase Education, which examined the use of Parlay Live RoundTable and Active Learning Classrooms as tools to promote inclusion and discussions in the classroom.

Key findings: Discussions using Parlay were more equalized and bolstered student self-confidence, however some features reinforced existing social norms within the classroom and focus on technology decreased engagement with the people in the room. The Active Learning Classroom fostered inclusion through increased communication and improved sightlines and positive energy.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
