Branksome Hall Handbook

Welcome to the 2023–24 school year at Branksome Hall!

As we mark the 120th anniversary of our founding, and my 26th and final year as Principal, the new academic year holds much promise of exciting days ahead for our new and returning students and parents as you explore all we have to offer.

This year’s handbook has a fresh new format. What You Need to Know includes frequently asked questions including our 2023–24 Major Dates, how you’ll receive school news and who to contact with questions. Community Resources is where you will find information on the Junior School, Senior & Middle School and Boarding as well as the school uniform. And in Our Priorities, you can learn more about the school’s six priorities: our IB curriculum, student support, communities, innovation, commitment to DEI and employees.

Building on the strengths we have honed over our 120-year history and guided by our mission, vision and values, strategic priorities, and our inspiring employees, Branksome Hall continues to deliver a best-in-class education. Whether it’s igniting an innovation mindset or cultivating curiosity and community-mindedness in our students, we are preparing not only the leaders of tomorrow but those who are shaping a better world today.

There is so much to look forward to, and I wish each of our students and families a wonderful year ahead.

Sincerely,

Karen L. Jurjevich
Principal

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
