Go Pi-Landers! Branksome Mathematics Club Wins Canadian Team Math Contest

Branksome Receives Historic $5-Million Gift: iCAST Building to Be Named for Karen Jurjevich
On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Branksome Hall Board Chair Mona Malone announced to the school community that it has received a record-breaking $5-million gift. This is the largest donation in the history of the school and among the largest ever to a Canadian girls' school. This anonymous gift is in addition to $1.5 million raised through a tribute campaign in honour of Karen Jurjevich, who is retiring in June after more than two decades as the school’s seventh Principal.Read More -

This year’s World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships (WIDPSC), hosted by Canberra Girls Grammar School in Canberra, Australia from April 14-19, was no exception. The 37th annual international English language debating and public speaking competition saw high school students from 12 countries skillfully delivering speeches and arguments across four events—Debating, Impromptu Speaking, Interpretive Reading and a Prepared Speech (either Persuasive Speaking or After-Dinner Speaking). -

CIS Dance Festival: Celebrating the Art of Dance
Read MoreOn February 22, Senior & Middle School dancers had the opportunity to take part in CIS Ontario’s Dance Fest at York University. Open to Grades 6 to 12 students, the Festival is a place where students can try out multiple dance styles while working with top dancers and choreographers in a professional setting. Both preparatory and senior Dance Companies attended in addition to Grades 9–12 classes. In total, more than 60 Branksome Hall dancers were able to participate. -
Branksome Hall Hosts Junior Volleyball and Senior Badminton CISAA Championships
It was an action-packed day for Branksome Hall’s Junior D1 Volleyball and Senior Badminton teams on Wednesday, February 28, as they wrapped up an exciting winter season at their championship tournaments. Breaking Barriers at the Blues Hackathon
Students Nora and Jade showed off their creativity, problem-solving skills and innovation at the University of Toronto Schools’ Blues Hackathon, which took place from January 19–21, 2024. The Blues Hackathon is a competition for students aged 13–18 with a passion for using code and technology to come up with solutions to the issues affecting our world today. Equipped only with their coding knowledge and determination, Branksome’s two student participants entered the competition determined to use their creativity to shape a better world.Read More -
Branksome Hall’s Master Chef Competition: A Sizzling Success
Lunchtime is a favourite time of day for many Branksome students, and who can blame them when there is so much to choose from? From fun Fish Fridays to creative pizza options and the much-loved pierogi day, there is never a dull menu in the Athletics and Wellness Centre Dining Hall. Led by Ms. Denise Smith each year, young chefs and creative cooks in Grades 7–12 look forward to Branksome’s Master Chef competition—an exciting contest where students submit their favourite recipe to Chef Peter Domaradzki, Head of Culinary, and the Branksome Aramark team with the hopes of winning the title of Master Chef.Read More -

Grade 4 Student Ashley Represents Canada at 2023 World Cadet Chess Championship

Dr. Carolyn Mak Honoured with the 2023 School Social Work Achievement Award
Read MoreDr. Carolyn Mak, Branksome’s Director of Well-Being and School Counselling, has been honoured with the Ontario Association of Social Workers’ 2023 School Social Work Achievement Award. The award is in honour of her support in the development and delivery of social-emotional learning (SEL) content school-wide, as well as leading the school’s team of School Counsellors and Social Workers. This is Dr. Mak’s ninth year at Branksome Hall, and she spent her first seven years as the Junior School Social Worker, working closely with the Junior School teaching team to provide in-class programming for students around development of social-emotional learning skills, as well as counselling and consultation to students and their families. As Director of Well-Being and School Counselling, Carolyn holds a key role in developing and implementing school-wide well-being programs and curriculum; supervising and building expertise in our counseling and social work team; and strengthening and developing parent education. -

A record number of graduating Highlanders participated in fall sports this year. Almost half of the graduating class played basketball, soccer, field hockey, ran, swam and rowed for their final fall season of their high school careers. LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.
