Wine Auction

Support Our Inaugural Wine Auction

Uncork your generosity for Branksome Hall’s inaugural Red, White & Plaid Auction. We're calling on all our fine wine connoisseurs and collectors to dig deep in your cellars and help build a stellar collection of wines for our Auction.

Donations will be auctioned via a hybrid online/live format to raise funds for the Innovation Centre and Studio Theatre (iCAST). The auction will begin online and culminate in a live auction event on Friday, November 3, 2023, allowing those unable to attend the evening to continue to bid online.

Wines We Are Looking For
Please consider a donation of 6-12 bottles (or more if you can!) of high-quality wine from anywhere in the world. Good examples would include Leoville Las Cases from Bordeaux, Opus One from California, Paul Jaboulet Aine from Rhone, or Tignanello from Italy. Here’s a look at what our donors and wine auction partners have to say.

Working with Iron Gate
Our partner for this exciting community-wide event is Toronto-based Iron Gate, a fine wine and spirits auction house that also conducts benefit auctions. Past clients include the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Upper Canada College and Appleby College.

Tax Receipts
All donors will receive a tax receipt for their donation for the current market value of the wine by November 30, 2023. In accordance with Canadian Revenue Agency guidelines, in donating this wine you acknowledge that the wine was acquired more than three years ago without the expectation of donating it to any charity.

FAQs

List of 7 items.

  • Who can donate wine?

Anyone! Please share widely with your friends, colleagues and other fine wine connoisseurs and collectors in your circles!
  • How will my wine be stored?

Iron Gate will either pick up wines from Branksome, or accept them at their facility. Upon receiving wine, they will inventory, provide intake receipts, photograph and store the wine in their environmentally controlled secure facility.
  • What happens once wine is delivered?

Upon receipt, Iron Gate will inspect and appraise the wine, and issue an electronic receipt. Wines will be organized into lots for sale, cleaned, photographed and packaged.

All wines will then be uploaded to the online auction platform one week before sale begins on October 27.
  • How do I bid online?

Here you can find complete details about how to navigate and search the auction site, and bid online.
  • What will happen at the live auction?

The closing of the sale will be a live auction, featuring Stephen Ranger as the auctioneer, at a venue to be confirmed. Bidders may continue to bid online if unable to attend.
  • What happens after the sale?

When the sale is completed, the successful bidders will be notified and billed accordingly. Successful buyers will be contacted and offered pick-up at Iron Gate’s facility in Toronto (free) or shipped at the buyer’s expense.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girl’s education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
