A Bright Future for the Class of 2023

On May 25, 2023, the Branksome Hall community gathered at the Winter Garden Theatre to celebrate the Class of 2023 at their Graduation Ceremony. The event highlighted the many incredible achievements these grads have accomplished thus far and gave us a promising glimpse into their future. To everyone watching, one thing was clear: The Class of 2023 is an impressive group of young people. From keeping their energetic school spirit despite having several years of their high school experience impacted by a global pandemic, to inspiring younger peers through their thoughtful and empathetic leadership, we could not be more proud of this year’s graduates. The hard work and resilience of these students has been recognized by universities in Canada and around the globe, as seen by the impressive number of admission offers received this year.
Our new graduates collectively earned hundreds of admission offers from more than 120 universities in Canada, the United States, the UK and beyond. As an International Baccalaureate World School, international mindedness is a key part of Branksome’s approach to developing global thinkers, and this group was no exception. Many of our graduates received offers from universities across the U.S., Europe and Asia, and many Canadian schools were eager to admit Branksome students as well.

The Class of 2023 earned an incredible number of awards and scholarships this year as well, for their excellence in academics, athletics, the arts and more. One example includes one of the largest and most prestigious scholarships in Canada. Katharine was awarded the University of St Andrews McEuen Scholarship, which is awarded to one individual selected from a pool of students from across Canada on the basis of academic and co-curricular achievement. “Katharine is a gifted student who dives passionately into each subject she studies,” remarked Principal Jurjevich. “Her love for the sciences and for all disciplines truly exemplifies a renaissance scholar.”

The future looks bright for the Class of 2023, and with remarkable students come remarkable aspirations. Ellie’s talent for film led her to the Tisch School of the Arts for Film and Television, where her passion will blossom into a career in this growing industry. The sky's the limit for Milla as she’ll be heading to Western University to enroll in their Commercial Aviation Management program where she will not only acquire a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Organizational Studies, but will also earn a Commercial Pilot’s license. Samantha is preparing to spend the next four years travelling the globe as she pursues a World Bachelor in Business where she will study in Los Angeles, Milan, Hong Kong and more. And this is just a glimpse into what our 115 grads have planned for the future. “I think you would be hard-pressed to find a more impressive group of graduates in the city of Toronto, if not the whole country,” said Principal Jurjevich in her address at this year’s Graduation ceremony.

Branksome Hall is so proud of what these young alums have accomplished and the community is eager to see what they do next. Congratulations, Class of 2023!

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
