Synthesis showcases culture and fashion for a good cause

A mix of fashion, dance and talent always makes for a high-energy performance. Synthesis, the annual student presentation of culture and fashion, was held on Friday, January 17 this year and was no exception.
Students chose to donate ticket proceeds from the event to Eva’s Phoenix, a transitional housing and support service for homeless youth.

“Synthesis is a great opportunity for students to get involved and be a part of something they’ve created,” says faculty supervisor Candace Benedet. “Students do everything from choreograph to perform, design and model their own clothing, and even work backstage on lighting and sound.”

Student leaders Uma and Emiko worked with a small team on promotional materials, including videos, posters and social media, and then brought their vision to life.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We wish to acknowledge this land on which Branksome operates. For thousands of years, it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and go to school on this land.

Setting the new standard for girls' education everywhere takes collective action. From all of us.
