Public speaking can be an intimidating skill to master, especially when it’s in your second language. That’s why our French public speakers deserve honourable mention for their tremendous hard work at various competitions this term.
Branksome Hall was represented at the Festival d’Art Oratoire by Grade 7 student, Anna, whose speech was called, “La communication des chiens”. The festival, for students in Grades 4 to 8, was held at Toronto Montessori School in Richmond Hill. “It was eye-opening to see the quality of the other students speaking and I was very impressed by the quality of the speeches,” said Anna. “This was a great opportunity for me to practice my French public speaking, as well as learn from the other contestants.”
Four other Senior School students represented the school at Alliance Française, including Grade 9 students Bella and Sophie, Grade 10 student Margery and Grade 11 student Adele.
“We are thrilled to announce that Adele placed third and Sophie placed first in their respective categories,” said Nicole Hallett, French teacher. Sophie will go on to the provincial competition, Concours d’art oratoire, in May with her speech “Les filles et le sport.”
