Our Branksome community came together to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse with an evening of culture, connection and joy.
From tea tastings and calligraphy to a stunning fashion show and an electrifying Lion Dance, it was a night of shared tradition and inclusion.
Thank you to our incredible students, parent volunteers and families who made it all possible.
Mǎ dào chéng gōng—may success arrive with the horse.
What a day! We wrapped up WAC 2026 on a high note as we heard from our afternoon plenary speakers and closing keynote Martin Kon, President Emeritus of Cohere, Former CFO of YouTube. Martin, a Branksome parent and UCC alum, gave insights about his experience as president of a leading AI company valued at over $7 billion with offices around the world.
Martin spoke about his early interest in finance and tech, and how he found success in the ever-expanding industry. There is no doubt that Martin gave hope and inspiration to the next generation of students aspiring to break into the tech industry. 🔥
This afternoon, we also heard from:
🎓 Marci Shore, Chair of Intellectual History at U of T, Former Yale Professor
🏅 Abby Hoffman, Canadian Athlete and Former Olympian
... and more!
A huge congratulations to the entire WAC 2026 team, including Executive Chairs Ruhani, Alyssa, Liyang and Karan, as well as everyone on the Director and Senior teams, faculty supervisors and volunteers! This outstanding event was only possible thanks to your teamwork and leadership.

Students are seeing the "Power in Perspective" at WAC 2026! 🌎
Secondary students from schools across the GTA are gathering at Upper Canada College to participate in this year`s student-led conference, co-hosted by Branksome Hall and UCC.
Our incredible morning began with an opening keynote from Colonel Chris Hadfield, Former Commander of the ISS. 👨🏻🚀 Chris`s space dreams began at just 10 years old, and after embarking on three historic space missions and inspiring millions through his remarkable storytelling, we are so grateful to have Chris at WAC! He discussed audacious goals, defining success and the four pillars of leadership: purpose, skillset, communication and celebration.
This morning`s incredible lineup also included:
🏀 Jack Armstrong, Sportscaster and Sports Analyst
📰 Arwa Damon, Former CNN Senior International Correspondent and Founder of INARA
💿 Mark Cohon, Chairman, Canadian Academy of Recording Arts/Sciences & Former CFL Commissioner, past BH parent
🍕 Paul Goddard, President & CEO of Pizza Pizza, past BH parent
... and many more!
We are so proud of all of the Branksome and UCC students who have worked so hard to bring this day to life. Keep checking our stories throughout the day as WAC`s Director of Marketing, Titoluwa, gives you an inside look at all things WAC!

The world this week mourned the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson, a towering advocate for civil rights, human dignity and the enduring call to “keep hope alive.” Branksome Hall alum Tricia "CK" PURKS Hoffler’80, who served as his lawyer for 38 years, reflected on CNN about his commitment to justice, brilliance as a strategist and deep care for every citizen. From expanding voting rights to paving the way for leaders like Barack Obama, Rev. Jackson’s impact spans generations and borders. 💚
What a week, Branksome! 🐸 Students in the Junior School dressed up in red clothing and traditional dress to celebrate Lunar New Year 🧧, and we loved cheering on athletes at the Olympics at watch parties throughout the week! 📣 We also congratulate our Senior D1 Volleyball team on an undefeated season! We wish them all the best at the CISAA finals on Wednesday. 🏐
From learning the science behind film makeup 🎨 and special effects 🔥 to a cut-throat egg drop competition 🥚, our first-ever STEAM week was one to remember! Each day this week, our students had the opportunity to participate in workshops and activities in the Arts and Sciences.
We hope everyone had an incredible week playing and discovering together! A special thank you to the STEAM Council, faculty members and guests who helped organize this amazing week for our students! 💚
