 Junior School Arts

Express yourself!
Opportunities to explore the creative abound at the Junior School. Specific instruction in the arts, as well as transdisciplinary connections to PYP Units of Inquiry provide students with opportunities to express themselves in unique and meaningful ways.

Visual Art
Walk through the halls of the Junior School and you will see student created artwork all along the way. Students in Grades 1 through 6 receive weekly instruction under the beautiful cathedral ceiling of our art studio. Girls enjoy sketching and drawing with a variety of media, paints, clay, collage, printmaking and more! Each year our Grade 6 class works with an artist from the community to create an art legacy project that remains in Sue Bett House or on the school grounds.

Expressing ourselves through music is a vital part of life at the Junior School. Students begin music instruction in Junior Kindergarten. As they mature, they study voice, percussion, recorder, guitar, composition and theory. Our spacious Performing Arts Room is an ideal space for students to spread their musical wings.

Co-curricular Arts
There is no shortage of opportunities for students to create and perform. There are a multitude of music, dance and drama opportunities beyond the curriculum. Opportunities for students from JK through Grade 6 exist for ballet, Irish Dance, Jazz Dance, Hip Hop, and a variety of musical theatre productions. More >>
