 Caring, Engaged Residence Staff

Caring, Engaged Residence Staff
Branksome Hall Residence students benefit from the support and guidance of the Residence Dons: all certified teachers and caring women who are dedicated to nurturing each student. Residence Dons ensure the positive social and emotional development of students, track academic progress and communicate regularly with families.

Residence Family Groups
Each Residence student is a member of a Residence Family, a smaller group of students led by a Residence Don. Family groups provide an essential touchpoint for both parents and students and help to build community within our Residence.

The Heath Centre
When students need extra care, an on-site nurse and a school doctor monitor the health and well-being of all residence students.

Parents and guardians must partner with Branksome Hall to ensure continuity of care and should always encourage their daughter to advocate for her own needs. If a student is having a problem, she can reach out to the Residence staff, her Guidance Counsellor, her teachers, the school's Social Worker, or the nurse. Knowing all of the support systems in place can help a student feel cared for, safe, and confident in her own problem-solving abilities.

Facilities and Amenities
In Branksome Hall's unique blend of heritage homes and new buildings, Residences include the following amenities:
  • single, double and triple student bedrooms assigned by grade
  • a comfortable student common room with cable television and video games
  • private and common washrooms
  • laundry facilities and laundry soap free-of-charge
  • a fully-stocked snack kitchen
  • wireless internet access in every room during afternoon free time, evening study time, and on the weekends. Residence is technology-free during meals and at bedtime to encourage every student to "unplug and recharge"

Residence students gather for every meal in the spacious and bright Christie-Pepal Dining Hall in the Athletics and Wellness Centre (AWC). Residence staff and students collaborate with Branksome's food services team to ensure healthy, delicious meals for girls from an array of cultures.

Special events and festivals are celebrated with presentations, music, dances, and, of course, incredible food! Guests from the school community are always welcome to join Residence students for meals.

There are many amenities on-campus for students to keep active any time of the year. From the tennis courts and soccer pitch on the Lower Field, to the indoor rock-climbing wall, to the two new salt-water swimming pools, to the state-of-the-art Fitness Centre in the AWC which is supervised by a personal trainer before, during, and after school and on weekends.
