The pass rate in the Eastern Cape Province is below 35% and the national pass rate for Grade 12 students in South Africa dropped to 60% this year. The students are congratulated on their hard work and dedication to their studies. This is an amazing accomplishment for a high school that has only been open for two years. For the past two years, Branksome Hall teachers have been instrumental in providing additional instructional support to the Grade 12s and their teachers through a Booster Camp program held in June and July in South Africa. While the rest of the school is on their winter mid-term break, the Grade 12 learners and teachers come to school for intensive lessons in English, Mathematics and Science. Last July, Branksome faculty Oksana Jajecznyk (Science) and Jill Strimas (English) taught at the camp. This year’s Booster Camp in July will see over 100 Grade 11 and 12 students in attendance, with Branksome Hall teachers, alumnae and other Triangle of Hope partners providing extra teaching support. We are confident our Get Ahead colleagues will continue their excellent achievements. Congratulations, again to this year’s Matrics class. |
