The Music students are always up to something creative and their performance schedule has been extremely varied and busy. Head of the Music Department Nancy Olfert told the Bulletin that “all students from Grade 7 to 12 have had a very active first term. Diploma Music students are busy composing music and making solo recordings; the music rooms are hopping with activity, even on Saturdays.” Other grades, such as Vocal 10 performed in the TDSB’s Martin Luther King Day special concert at Roy Thomson Hall on January 18, while the Grade 8 Vocal students composed their own pieces that they performed in class. Another highlight this year is Infusion and the Senior Choir is getting in tune for its performances. They are planning to sing a Hawaiian song and are busy learning the accompaniment on ukulele. “We’ve revived the Staff Choir and the 2010 debut will be at Infusion,” added Ms Olfert, who, herself, will be singing the role of Tolomeo in Handel’s opera, Giulio Cesare on Friday, March 12 at College Street United>> Upcoming performances
