Courtney Irwin Accepted to the Jane Goodall Institute

The Jane Goodall Institute in Uganda has become a key player in environmental education around the world, and this summer it has accepted Branksome Hall’s After-School Supervisor, Courtney Irwin, for a three-week-long teacher-training program as part of its Primary School Environment Education Program.

Branksome Gets Its Star

As you gaze at the night sky, towards Ursa Major, a new Branksome Hall symbol will shine brightly in your direction. A star was recently named “Keep Well the Universe,” in Branksome’s honour, thanks to the initiative of the school’s Astronomy Club.

Making sure the pipes don’t freeze in winter and keeping the entire campus livable and workable year round are just two of Director of Facilities Eugene Zenger’s many responsibilities at Branksome Hall. More recently, however, he has begun teaching students about how they can help Branksome’s Facilities Department reduce its carbon footprint.

While looking for a speaker to address the World Affairs Conference (WAC), innovative Grade 11 student Emily was impressed by Dr. Kirsty Duncan. Although Dr. Duncan, the Liberal MP for Etobicoke North, couldn’t attend WAC, she wished to share her story at a Branksome assembly.
