The IB Diploma Program is an academically challenging and balanced program of education, in the final two years of high school, emphasizing development of the whole person through the arts, physical activity and community service. It thoroughly prepares students for success at university and in life beyond. All IB Diploma students take written exams at the end of Grade 12 that are marked by external IB examiners. The IB Diploma Program is respected, recognized and rewarded by top universities world-wide. Branksome graduates also meet the academic requirements set out by the Government of Ontario. Completion of 30 credits, based on 110 hours of study, is required to obtain the OSSD. All courses are at the honours or university destination level. An Extended French program is offered to students from Grades 6 – 10.
Branksome Hall graduates are truly accomplished and prepared. This past year, our graduates went on to the universities of their choice, here in Canada, in the United States and the UK, and around the world. University entrance scholarships were offered to 84% of our graduating students. Branksome Hall students are renowned for their well-roundedness and service to others. Our graduates participate in over 40 sports teams and clubs and participate in a range of community service activities. Branksome students of all ages raise funds for numerous charitable causes by participating in walks, runs and tower climbs. They tutor students and perform plays at area public schools, volunteer at community shelters and hospitals, travel to work with our partner institutions in India, South Africa and Costa Rica, and find a wealth of ways to serve their community at the local, national and international levels. In Grades 11 and 12, every student takes part in university visits and meets with representatives from a wide array of universities. Panel discussions, information evenings for students and parents, expert speakers and alumnae visits are organized for the students’ benefit. Our Career Centre, open every day, contains electronic and print information on hundreds of post-secondary institutions. In her graduating year, each student works closely with her guidance counselor to prepare university applications and make thoughtful choices, based on her unique strengths and interests. Our graduates attend post-secondary institutions in Canada, the United States, the U.K. and around the world.
