Specialist in French and International Languages
Joined Branksome in 2002
Instructional Leader, Modern and Classical Languages

“It gives me great pleasure when I see a student connect with the language and soar.”
I became a teacher to share my curiosity and my passion for language learning. I love sharing anecdotes and historical facts about the Hispanic and Francophone worlds. It gives me great pleasure when I see a student connect with the language and soar.
Before joining Branksome, I worked at Canada's National Ballet School (1983–2002) as a French teacher and in public relations.
Branksome is a stimulating environment with very dedicated and caring individuals. There are countless opportunities for enrichment and personal growth.
Branksome provides many local and international opportunities for professional development, including IB workshops, IT workshops, and a great variety of subject-related pedagogical workshops. Branksome is also a frequent host to outstanding guest speakers during assemblies and other community events.
The IB is a relevant and modern program that changes with the world. It is exciting to be connected with IB schools from around the world. IB offers numerous professional growth and sharing opportunities, such as examining, presenting workshops and moderating.
I believe that leading a balanced life benefits my students. I fill my leisure time with my family, yoga, Pilates, Zumba dancing, walks, cycling, gardening, reading, travelling, language learning, movies, theatre and ballet.
My favourite quotation is by Ralph Waldo Emerson: No man should travel until he has learned the language of the country he visits; otherwise he voluntarily makes himself a great baby — so helpless and ridiculous.
I must admit, though, that this amusing quote wouldn't stop me from embracing the opportunity to visit any country in the world!
