“I really value the opportunity to develop my own teaching philosophies and to share them with fellow teachers around the world.”

I attended Branksome from Kindergarten to graduation, so I have a very special connection with the school. It has been wonderful to return as a teacher and meet a new generation of creative and spirited Branksome students.

The IB Program has helped me become a better teacher. because it encourages me to ask questions and find deeper connections between concepts. I have taught a number of different philosophies, but it wasn't until I experienced the IB that I truly became the teacher I've always wanted to be.

My favourite way to travel is through volunteering. I find that I see countries from a completely different perspective when I'm helping a community and meeting people who are making a difference for their fellow citizens.

The best way I can encourage my students to be globally minded is to model this approach in my own life. I've travelled with Habitat for Humanity to Guatemala, Portugal, Romania and Bolivia, and I love being able to share these concrete examples of international experience in the classroom.

As a faculty leader of the Branksome Eco Team, I'm inspired to help students tackle waste management and energy conservation issues. The girls bring so much passion and creativity to their work by writing songs, creating posters and spreading the word about the actions we can all take to help the environment.

Branksome has provided me with many unique ways to develop as a teacher. With Branksome, I've travelled to Cambodia to help young teachers develop their skills. I really value the opportunity to develop my own teaching philosophies and to share them with fellow teachers around the world.
