The International Baccalaureate

Branksome Hall is a fully authorized IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) to all our students, from JK to Grade 12:

 

Our secondary school curriculum conforms to the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education. Graduates receive both the IB Diploma and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Classes
There is one class per grade in Junior and Senior Kindergarten. There are two classes per grade from Grades 1 to 6. Four teachers oversee the Junior and Senior Kindergarten classes, and there is one teacher per class for all other grades.

French is taught at all grades using AIM, the Accelerated Integrated Method. Our Extended French Program begins in Grade 6.

Specialists teach Information Technology, Library Research Skills and Physical and Health Education at all grades. Music and Art are also taught by specialists from Grade 1 on.

Grade 7 is our largest entry year (40-60 new students will be enrolled). Middle School students (Grades 7 and 8) have their lockers, as well as lounge and meeting areas, in the new Middle School Wing.

Senior students in Grades 9-12, all students follow individual timetables, according to the courses they have selected. Branksome graduates attend top Canadian and international universities of their choice. In 2009, 97% of applicants were offered university entrance scholarships.

 

Residence

Boarding students may enroll from Grades 8-12. We have three residences, accommodating 68 students, who enjoy an enriched residence program within the caring residence environment.

 

Faculty

With a faculty of over 120 teachers, we are proud to have educators from around the city and around the world. Many teachers possess post-graduate degrees and our faculty represent all age groups and diverse educational backgrounds. As an IB World School, we attract many teachers with international teaching experience.
