Our Campus

Our school is located in the heart of Toronto, in Rosedale. Twelve buildings, ranging in age from 150 years old to brand new, are situated across 13 acres of residential and ravine property. Residence houses, academic facilities, two gymnasia (one a double gym), a pool, tennis courts, an outdoor classroom, a woodlot and playing fields support a broad academic program.

From Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12, through a series of ongoing projects large and small, our students’ educational experience is maximized by the environmental restoration and renovation of our property.

Branksome makes continual capital investments in our facilities to ensure that our students benefit from every amenity required for an outstanding school experience. Over the past five years, Branksome has undertaken annually a major capital project to enhance our campus.

In summer 2008, the slate roof and woodwork atop 10 Elm Avenue (the Senior School) was replaced, the path around the Junior School was widened, and the 250-foot Waldie Gates driveway (up from Park Road) was excavated and resurfaced, with a new curb added. The Junior School Library received extensive refurbishments, with all new custom shelving for the 14,000 books; new furniture, carpeting, painting, energy-efficient lighting and blackout roller blinds; plus a permanent SmartBoard. The Senior School Gym was fitted with new, energy-efficient fixtures that are motion-sensitive and provide variable light levels.

In summer 2007, the traffic circle on the west campus was widened, new sidewalks and landscaping installed, and all underground services were replaced. These changes, plus the addition of a second exit lane and the creation of a lay-by, were designed to improve traffic flow and enhance safety.

In summer 2006 the Junior School was enhanced through a major renovation, including construction of a two-storey student commons. Each floor has over 1200 square feet of open space where students can work, meet, present and display their work. Renovations opened areas of historic Readacres, formerly the kindergarten wing, allowing us to move classrooms to create a new Inquiry Centre, as well as a teaching Resource Room and new offices and meeting rooms for staff. We simultaneously upgraded services with new heating and air-conditioning equipment, a new roof and an intercom system in every classroom.
