Girls Rock Out for Gilda’s Club
Junior School students raised almost $900 during their Airband show, Branksome Idol Gives Back: A Gleeful for Gilda’s Club Concert, last month, with all proceeds directed to Gilda’s Club of Greater Toronto — a support centre for families dealing with cancer.
After weeks of preparation that included auditions, rehearsals, costumes and set design, students from Grades 1 to 6 performed to the delight of family and friends. We were entertained by Bon Jovi, Alvin & the Chipmunks and Cher performances, as well songs from the TV show Glee  and the Rocky Horror Picture Show classic Time Warp.
Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and Junior School girls demonstrated this by creating one of their most successful community service events to date.
We had a lot of fun during our end-of-year holiday assembly, watching the video of the concert.
Thank you to the many Branksome families who supported our concert  as well as the Grade 6 Student Action Committee, Grade 5 student Gwyneth Richardson for her passionate commitment, and Assistant Head of Junior School and PYP Coordinator Mrs. Tanya De Hoog.
Thank you, too, to the Branksome Hall Parents’ Association for providing delicious cookies.
