Ending the Year in Style at Green Carpet
With technology and creativity being themes of the 10th annual Green Carpet Celebration, it seemed fitting that alumna Toni TROW Myers'61, a pioneer in the field of IMAX filmmaking, and Canadian actor Stephen Amell, star of the hit television show Arrow, were both in attendance.

"Five different technologies took me from here to the edge of the universe," Ms Myers, the honorary guest speaker, told the more than 400 students, employees and parents of prize winners.

With an impressive film career spanning five decades, Ms Myers spoke about her experiences using cutting-edge technology, working with celebrities like John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Tom Cruise, and the production and release of the 3D IMAX film A Beautiful Planet. Ms Myers had the opportunity to train NASA astronauts to help capture the footage in space, while sometimes directing shots from her cellphone back on earth.

The Green Carpet celebration marks the end of the school year for Grade 7 to 11 students. Opening with a procession of special guests and school leaders, similar to the Academy Awards—see video—the event is a fun way for students to unwind after exams and get excited for summer vacation. The ceremony also honours students who have excelled throughout the year in leadership, sports and their contribution to the Branksome community.

This year, the ceremony recognized leadership and service initiatives such as the Children for Children charity and a Sunny View fundraiser, both of which saw Branksome students go above and beyond to give service to others.

There were also awards and recognition for Debating and Public Speaking, Music and Drama and Athletics. Stephen Amell announced The Sandra BOLTÉ'73 Senior Athlete of the Year—an award he and his sister, Andrea AMELL Rees'03, helped create for their mother—which was presented to a remarkable Senior School athlete.

Throughout the afternoon, many talented musical acts were performed. Students were treated to an amazing vocal performance from the Broadway hit Rent, a beautiful solo piano performance of a Beethoven composition, and a rousing rendition of "Come on Eileen" performed by the Branksome Rock Band, which had everyone up and dancing.

After collecting their yearbooks—see video—students could truly start their summer vacation.
