Winter Sports Season Highlights
Sports Prefect Allie is enthusiastic about the wins of the winter sports season. She congratulated all our teams on their hard work, showing their skills in competition and achieving many exciting successes.
"On the ice, the Hockey team had another great season. They made it to the semi-finals, where they lost in an exciting double OT game, finishing the season 3rd in their league.
All our Volleyball teams fought hard during the season with U13 and U14 teams finished 4th out of 12 teams in their league, and Junior Volleyball finishing 3rd in their league.
In the pool, our swimmers had a very dominant season. At the Senior Swim championships, we were thrilled that six girls—Katie Chan, Amanda Jack, Kaitlyn Lee, Melissa Yuan, Maddi Young and Alexa Vasilakos—qualified for OFSAA.
For the first time ever, we had a U14 Ski team, which had an excellent season, placing 2nd overall in the league. Individually, Alex Brooks in Grade 10 qualified for, and competed at, OFSAA, placing 10th in Slalom and 16th in Giant Slalom out of 80 competitors. Congratulations, Alex, on this huge accomplishment.
On the ergometers, our Rowing team trained hard in preparation for their spring season. They saw some great results at both the Canadian and Ontario indoor rowing championships, with numerous top ten finishes, in addition to two 3rd place finishes by Francesca Johnson.
Our Badminton teams proved their skill and defended their titles this season. Branksome hosted the Senior Badminton tournament and the team placed 3rd in the league; the U13 Badminton team finished 2nd. The U14 Badminton team had an outstanding season finishing 1st in their league, becoming CISAA champions.
Congratulations to all teams and players on this great season!
