Competitive Figure Skater Wins “Athlete of the Season”
Julia Woollcombe in Grade 12 has just been awarded the exciting title of Athlete of the Season. This new award was created by the Athletics Council to add to the other titles, such as Most Valuable Player (MVP). The Athlete of Season will be chosen for showing remarkable skill and commitment, competing inside or outside of the school.

Julia is a competitive figure skater who competes at the Toronto Cricket, Curling and Skating Club. She is an incredibly dedicated athlete and trains for over 20 hours a week. Her peers say that Julia is very humble and even when asked, rarely shares the extent of her athletic accomplishments.

Julia started skating at age 6 and has since been on multiple Skate Ontario development teams, such as Future Champions and Team Elite. Most recently, Julia placed second at her sectionals, qualifying her for the Skate Canada Challenge Nationals, which took place in early December. Congratulations Julia!
