Welcome Back to Another Exciting Year!
As the last few warm weeks of summer are passing us by, we excitedly welcomed everyone back to campus for the first week of school.
Tuesday, September 8 was designated as Reconnect Day—a chance for students in the Senior and Middle School to come in and receive their locker number, have their school photo taken, and reconnect with friends. It was a great chance for students to come back to school and get re-acquainted with school routines.
The next day, all students were on campus for Welcome Back Day—which could also have been called Happiness Day, as girls were overjoyed to see each other after the long break. In the Junior School, students were met with smiling faces (and umbrellas!) as they found their new classrooms and met friends old and new.
Head Girl Priyanka Dogra is thrilled with how the first week of school has gone.
“This week has been filled with excitement and fresh energy for the coming year,” said Priyanka. “It was so nice to welcome everyone back on Wednesday morning with music playing, meeting new girls and reconnecting with old friends.”
In the Senior and Middle School, students attended the Welcome Assembly, the first assembly of the year, led by Priyanka. Deputy Principal Mrs. Weinstock shared her awe-inspiring summer trip across Europe, and spoke about her marvel at the neverending quest for knowledge, inspired by her visit to two of the seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Students also heard about the many athletic, service learning, and drama opportunities coming this year. Ms Friend’s announcement that this year’s Senior School Drama Production will be Disney’s High School Musical was greeted with loud cheers!
The year ahead is sure to be an exciting one, and Priyanka is looking forward to her last year at Branksome.
“I am already seeing returning and new girls walking the halls together and sharing their summer stories with one another,” she said. “I cannot believe that I am already in Grade 12 but am looking forward to getting to know everyone and enjoying the last of high school moments.”
