Tremendous Season for Athletes
It's been a tremendous season for Branksome athletes, and the excitement continues this week.

"Our athletes have demonstrated great skill and determination this season," says Director of Athletics Nanci Smith. "I'm very proud of the students and their coaches."

In early February, 20 Branksome rowers competed in the Canadian Indoor Erg championships and brought home the bronze, silver and gold medals. Congratulations to, respectively, Izzy Ruby-Hill, Georgia Levitt and Mirte Wijbenga.

Other great results for Branksome came this past weekend during the Ontario Indoor Erg Championships, held at Ridley College. The competition featured 700 participants from 60 schools, and 23 of our rowers competed in various categories. In Junior Open, Mirte Wijbenga placed first, Lauren O'Donohue was third, and Erin O'Donohue, fourth; in Junior Light, Izzy Ruby-Hill was first and Molly Henitzman seventh. In Senior Light, Caroline Hall was third and Annabel Colterjohn seventh. In the Senior Mid category, Kate Caldarone placed second.

Our rowers leave shortly for March Break training in Gainesville, Georgia.

Both of our ski and swim teams made it to OFSAA (the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association), which is high-level competition featuring the top athletes from 18 regions across the province.

Five members of our ski team competed with the best high school alpine skiers from across the province for two days of exciting racing and outstanding results in late February. Skiers Kaitlyn Eccleston, Tori Wight, Raquel Debono, Georgia Levitt, Camille Hutcheson emerged from OFSAA competition as champions in the giant slalom. They also won the silver medal in the slalom competition. They brought home the OFSAA banner that we are proudly hang in our gymnasium.

Our youngest swimmers, those in Grades 5 to 8, placed second overall out of 18 schools, including schools with boys. The senior girls had amazing results as well, placing second overall with five girls qualifying for OFSAA: Lindsay Lauder, Sammie Roper, Kate Lord, Rachael Mulholland and Jane Law. We look forward to announcing their results at OFSAA later this week.

All of our badminton teams had an unbelievable season. Our U12, U14 and Junior teams were all undefeated all season and all three won the gold! Our U13 and senior teams had particularly strong seasons and each earned silver medals in the championships.
