 Nora McRae Public Speaking Tournament

Judges Needed!
Saturday, April 27, 2013
8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Help Branksome continue to make history with one of the largest and longest running public speaking tournaments in Ontario. Parents, or other interested adults, are needed as volunteer judges. A full lunch and refreshments will be served throughout the day.

What is the Role of the Judge
Working in teams usually of three, judges will evaluate the performances of participants from a variety of independent and public schools over three rounds of public speaking. No experience is necessary and training will be provided to judges before the tournament begins.

History of the Tournament
This competition was founded to honour the late Nora McRae, a much admired English teacher who worked tirelessly to promote the art of oratory during her long career at Branksome Hall. It gives Ontario students the opportunity to practise the types of speeches that are often used in national and international competitions.

If you are interested in judging, please register by April 12 at the latest. Register online or contact one of the Debating Society’s parent liaisons:
